SOUS CHEF POSITION OVERVIEW:

The h.wood Group’s Mason is seeking a hardworking and dedicated worker for our new Classic American Chophouse in Santa Monica Sous Chefs for The h.wood group are able to work in various restaurants with different cuisines and service styles. Our venues range from Hotels, Fine Dining, Dinner only restaurants, to Fast Casual Concepts.

Our menus are inspired by fresh, seasonal, farmer's market ingredients with daily specials and seasonally changing menus and an emphasis on quality service. The chef will have creative contribution in the form of specials and seasonal menu changes.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Responsible for the culinary staff and ensuring that each staff member adheres to all safety, security and health regulations
Oversee the staff - maintain absolute cleanliness and provide exceptional face to face interactions with all clients
Plan and delegate food preparation and culinary activities, while always supervising the kitchen staff's activities
Modify menus or create new dishes that meet quality standards, as well as, give prepared plates the final touch
Working knowledge of food cost and all kitchen equipment.
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, motivate and train staff and work well under pressure during demanding periods
Responsibilities include: overseeing prep, prep lists/templates, inventory, schedule, catering, ordering for kitchen, as well as, dry goods from multiple vendors, setting the line for service and overseeing flow.
Qualifications:

At least 5 years of experience working in all-scratch kitchens and in notable chef-driven restaurants utilizing the best possible ingredients. Having worked in restaurants with strong systems is a plus.
Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance
Solid management experience with the ability to oversee, mentor and manage a large team
Leadership and development of current kitchen staff management as well as junior members to help with restaurant's growth
Must be able to handle the pressures of finding appropriate solutions to restaurant problems
Candidates should be able to communicate effectively, motivate and train staff and work well under pressure during demanding periods
Must possess a valid drivers license
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Must agree to background and credit check
