Description

Greeting and seating guests in a friendly and courteous manner and welcoming them to Chi Chi’s restaurant. 

Host Responsibilities:

  • Greetings guests in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival.
  • Escorting guests to their table, engaging in polite conversation, not walking too far in front of guests.  Assist with pulling out chairs when appropriate and waiting for guests to be seated before presenting menus.
  • Checking reservations system to ensure guests preferences are accommodated as best as possible.
  • Presetting and assigning reservations in OpenTable system to ensure table counts and sections are spaced out with reservations along with walk-in guests.
  • Alerting team members of seating guests in sections to ensure a smooth service is started and carried out during visit.
  • Answering phone calls within the third ring and remaining positive and professional while answering questions and obtaining accurate and complete information for inquiries for follow-up by MOD.
  • Monitor flow of restaurant and ensure waitlists are enacted for walk-in guests in accordance with MOD’s guidelines on service flows.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all menus for presentation and alerting MOD on need for replacements.
  • Supporting other areas of the restaurant as necessary to ensure the full dining experience of each guest.
  • Maintaining a complete knowledge and understanding of menu items for understanding of ingredients and preparations to best answer guests’ questions.
  • Be on-time to one’s scheduled shift. 

Job Requirements

The ideal Restaurant Host/Hostess candidate will have at least one year of restaurant server experience, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for delivering excellent service. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Must be willing to and have the ability to work a varied schedule that may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room on an occasional basis throughout shift.
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and directly with guests using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Must have a valid alcohol awareness certification or be capable of obtaining certification.
  • Must have a valid Riverside Counting Certified Food Handlers Card or be capable of obtaining one prior to starting first shift.
