Izakaya is looking for full time Kitchen Manager/Head Chef

An established Japanese Izakaya restaurant located in Manhattan, is looking to hire a fun, charismatic, hardworking, and most importantly - EXPERIENCED individual. We are looking for a Kitchen Manager or Head Chef to join our team, starting training immediately.

The Kitchen Manager will work directly under the Owner, and be responsible for leading the team on a day to day basis. the Kitchen Manager will be tasked with daily inventory and ordering. He/she will be responsible for maintaining recipe cards that are already in place. In addition, during Dinner service you will have to assist in all areas of the kitchen, sauté, grill, salad, fry and sushi station as needed. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for kitchen cleanliness, ensuring that we meet and exceed the standards of the Health Department. Kitchen Manager is also responsible for scheduling on a week to week basis. Our pre existing team is well established, we are looking for a candidate who can motivate them to do an even better job.

The Kitchen Manager/Head Chef will be tasked with creating new specials, which include izakaya style dishes, dessert and sushi specials on a weekly basis.


We are looking for:
- A charismatic, team-oriented, and hands-on chef to manage the ins-and-outs of our prep and dinner service.
- Someone with a level-head, who can handle pressure with grace.
- Someone experienced in maintaining labor and hygiene codes.
- Someone who is professional, reliable, and always on-time.
- A quick learner who will be able to adapt to our dynamic environment with ease
- Someone energetic - who will fit in with our dynamic establishment and charming staff!

Qualifictions:
- A chef with extensive experience cooking Japanese cuisine in New York City.
- Fluency in English is a must. (Japanese/Spanish speaking skills is a big plus, but not a necessity.)
- You must have legal papers (US Citizen or have a Green Card/working visa).
- You must have an open or flexible schedule.
- NYC Health Academy Food Protection Certification is a PLUS, but not an immediate necessity.
